Aimee Ginsburg Bikel

As both a writer and a public speaker, I have been given the remarkable privilege of doing what I love best: connecting to people everywhere. After living in three continents and calling them home, I really do feel that the whole world is my home, and that the people of the world are my family. As a journalist, I've covered natural disasters, terrible violence, and religious-ethnic strife.  These have been heartbreaking to witness. But what have really stayed with me are the resilience of the people I have met, their courage and ingenuity, their insistence on beauty, and on love. I have had the great honor of seeing real changes in law, public policy, and in every day lives of people as the result of my work. I have noticed that I love the process of getting to know someone intimately, for the purpose of an interview or profile, as much as I love standing in front of an audience and relaying my messages of hope, responsibility, and our shared humanity. I guess my writing and my speaking are two sides of that same coin: interconnection.

As Tomás slowly begins and as the story unfolds, the boy nods his head, silently approving every word as truth. I have interviewed hundreds, thousands of people in my long career as an investigative reporter. Although it was hard to stay completely present as emotions of anger, disgust, and grief coursed through me, I believe every word Tomás and Clarissa told me this day..."- for full entry click here.
